From the moment you arrive you'll be aware of the warmth and welcome at Oxley Park Golf Club, hidden behind houses along the Stafford Road just outside of Wolverhampton city centre. The course, which celebrated its centenary in 2013, was created by Harry Shapland Colt, the famous golf course architect who designed over 300 courses around the world.
In 1912, the Oxley Park Golf Club was formed by a group of local entrepreneurs including the then owner, Judge Henry Staveley Hill K.C., M.P. They employed Harry Shapland Colt, to lay down the first eighteen holes.
The course is played in two loops. The first loop finishing at the eighth, a par four of 443 yards. With out of bounds down the right and a pool at driving distance, it definitely earns its rating of stroke index 1.The second loop finishes at the eighteenth, another testing finish with a stroke index of 2. So, avoid the trees, ponds and out of bounds and enjoy some of the best greens the area has to offer.
